International collaboration with Gibran Graduate School of Business, Australia.

Mr.Dinesh Sandhu, International Offshore Marketing Manager, Gibran Graduate School of Business, Australia, visited SCMS-COCHIN and explored the possibilities of collaboration in offering their MBA and DBA programmes in India.

International collaboration with University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland

The discussions for a collaborative agreement between SCMS-COCHIN and School of Business at University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland are in the final stage. Prof. Pradeep P.Thevannoor, Director, SCMS Group and Prof. Radha Thevannoor, Director, SSTM, had visited Switzerland on an invitation from the University on November 13 to discuss the alliance.

The areas of collaboration identified are as follows:
1. Faculty and student exchange for the Management programme.
2. Facilities for SCMS-COCHIN faculty to teach in courses in the University and vice-versa. .
3. Facilities for SCMS-COCHIN students to do a part of their PGDM programme at the University campus and vice-versa.
4. Facility for credit transfer.

University of ASNS headquartered at Olten, Switzerland is a State-funded University and have four campuses. It is one of the very few Universities in Switzerland delivering programmes in English. They have a large group of international students on the campus at Olten.

The Management programme of the University has a component with special focus on India. The first lot of their students in the ’Focus India’ group are scheduled to visit SCMS-COCHIN campus during April 2009. These students propose to make use of their visit as an opportunity to interact with our students and faculty.

Dr.Markus Freiburghaus, Member, Board of Directors; Prof. Robert Buttery, Head-International Relations; Prof. Antje Leukens, Dean, International Management; Dr. Thomas Burgi, Dean of M.Sc. In International Management and Dr.Beat Hulliger, Department of Research represented the University in the discussions held at their campus.

SCMS Group is also planning to explore possibilities of collaboration with the Life Science stream of the University for undertaking joint research projects.

Education mission to Singapore

Dr.G.P.C.Nayar, Chairman, SCMS Group and Prof. Pradeep P Thevannoor, Director, SCMS Group had visited some of the leading Universities and educational institutions in Singapore on November 24 and 25, as members of an Education Mission from India. The visit was organised by CII, Southern Region.

The delegation had visited National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Management Development Institute of Singapore, Singapore Management University and PSB Academy and held discussions on the possibilities of collaboration. The discussions revolved around topics like emerging trends in higher education sector in Singapore, new ways for improving the education system in India, new areas of higher education, research in higher education, creativity and innovation in higher education and the like. The discussions were held in a very free and friendly atmosphere to understand each other more closely.
