Annual Games Meet – a memorable event

SCMS Annual Games Meet – 2007was held on December 20 and 21. The meet was a resounding success as evidenced by the keen interest shown by the students in not only participating in various games but also in organizing it in a most professional manner.

Barring caroms and a few early round-matches in chess, which were staged at the Prathap Nagar campus, all other games were conducted at the FACT Sports Complex at Udyogamandal. Competitions were held in cricket, football, shuttle badminton, table tennis, basketball, caroms and chess.

PGDM 15 Batch emerged as the overall champions winning trophies in cricket, football, basketball, table tennis, caroms, and chess and becoming runners ups in shuttle badminton mixed doubles, table tennis (15 batch second team), and basketball women’s team. PGDM batch 16 too had also done pretty well by winning the trophies in both mixed and men’s doubles in shuttle badminton and women’s basket ball event along with notching up runners up trophies in cricket, football, men’s basketball, chess, and mixed doubles shuttle event (second team). MCA team won the trophy for shuttle women’s doubles apart from becoming runners up in caroms. Though they did not win any championship, MBA teams did put up great fights in all the events they had participated.

Two long, tough days in the sun and under the glaring lights, the participants had great fun sweating and fighting it out while the entire student community lustily cheered for their favorites. Many had won and a few had admirably lost but it was the spirit of competition, participation, and camaraderie that had finally won everybody’s heart.
